Zero Club are throwing a Pearl Jam Special

Zero Club Pearl Jam Special 2018 - Red Cardinal Music

Seattle icons Pearl Jam released their classic debut album “Ten” in September 1991, so Zero Club will be using the anniversary of this release as a good reason to finally host a Pearl Jam special – and play the album in full during the night!

Ten hit the mainstream alongside peers Nirvana’s Nevermind, as the whole world had their minds blown with tracks like Smells Like Teen Spirit and In Bloom. Pearl Jam offered something more melodic and thoughtful, with offerings such as Jeremy, Alive or live favourite Even Flow. The special is to take place at Zombie Shack on Friday August 31st.

The night will consist of career-high classics and anthems from the many albums in their illustrious life in the music world, as well as the usual mix of 90s Grunge / Geek Rock / Riot Grrrl / Generation X Anthems

The Pearl Jam Special is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon and there will be a free can given away to the first 50 people in. Party goers will be able to take advantage of a Zero Club exclusive 2 for £6 offer.

Our exclusive 90s themed cocktails will be available all night with the Even Flow being the recommended cocktail for this event!

Zero Club are throwing a Weezer Blue Album Anniversary Special

Zero Club May 18 Weezer Blue Album Anniversary Special - Red Cardinal Music - Zombie Shack

In May 1994, a month after the world lost a legendary band in Nirvana, a band called Weezer released their debut album alongside music videos featuring Happy Days characters and sad tales about destroyed sweaters. Here we are in 2018, and the alt world still loves this album so Zero Club are throwing a Weezer Blue Album Anniversary Special at Zombie Shack on Saturday 26th May.

On 10th May 1994 geek rock band Weezer released their self-titled album, dubbed the Blue Album which was certified gold in under 7 months. The album saw huge hits with Undone – The Sweater Song, Buddy Holly and Say It Ain’t So, which all became 90s Generation X Anthems that people still love to this day.

Since its release the Blue Album has become one of the most highly regarded albums appearing on best of and must have lists from publications such as Rolling Stone, NME, Blender, Guitar World and more.

Pitchfork named the album the 26th best album of the 90s and summed up the album’s critical recognition:

An album so substantial the band misguidedly attempted to tap into its resonance through cover graphics a mere two releases later. In 1994, 70s rock had come to mean either a bastardized version of Led Zeppelin or a bullshit reconstruction of punk rock. As guitar nerds, Weezer sought influence there but found true inspiration in forgotten bubblegum power-pop like Cheap Trick, Raspberries, 20/20, and The Quick. Most impressively, Rivers Cuomo rescued the thrilling guitar solo from finger-tapping metal and disregarding grunge/punk. A decade later air-guitaring to the album feels far less embarrassing than singing along. With the help of Spike Jonze, Weezer kept joy alive in arena rock, making the critical repositioning of Weezer as some emo touchstone even more absentminded. They called themselves Weezer, knowingly, for chrissakes. – Brent DiCrescenzo.

Zero club will be celebrating the 24th anniversary of The Blue Album by playing all of it in full during the night.

The Weezer Blue Album Special is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon and party goers will be able to take advantage of a Zero Club exclusive 2 for £6 offer.

Our exclusive 90s themed cocktails will be available all night with the Buddy Holly cocktail highly recommended to keep in theme with the night!
